No lead auctions, no paid rankings, no invented star ratings. Just who is out there, where they are, and how to reach them — so you can call three of them yourself.
When a furnace quits in February, most people do the same thing: search, land on a page of ads, and call whoever paid the most to be at the top. That is not a recommendation. It is an auction.
This directory is the boring alternative. It lists heating, cooling, ventilation and plumbing businesses across Canada with the details you need to make your own shortlist — name, trade, city, phone, website. You call them. We are not in the middle of that conversation, and nobody pays us to be at the top of it.
We are a small independent team in Canada. We do not install furnaces, we do not take a commission on your job, and we have no financial relationship with the contractors listed unless they have bought a clearly labelled advertisement.
The honest answer, because it affects how much you should trust any single entry.
The bulk of the directory is built from OpenStreetMap and the Overture Maps Foundation — the same open datasets that power a lot of the maps you already use. They are freely licensed, and we credit them on every page that uses them.
Any contractor can add or claim their own listing. A claim is checked by a person before it is approved, and after that the owner keeps their own details up to date — which is why a claimed listing is usually the most accurate one on the page.
Phone numbers change and businesses close. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. That is genuinely the fastest way this gets better.
What that means in practice: an unclaimed listing is a starting point, not a vetting. It means a business of that name was recorded at that address. It does not mean we have checked their licence, their insurance or their work. Always verify a contractor’s licensing and insurance yourself before hiring — in most provinces that is a public register and takes about two minutes.
We do sell advertising, and we say so plainly — it is what pays for the site. Advertisements are marked, they sit in their own slots, and buying one does not move a business up the listings. If you ever find an ad here that is not obviously an ad, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.
Search your business name and city. There is a good chance you are already here from the open data — most established businesses are.
Claiming tells us the listing is yours. We check it by hand, which takes a day or two, and then it is yours to edit.
Correct the phone number, add the trades you actually cover, describe what you do. A complete listing gets called more often than a bare one.
A bad phone number helps nobody. Tell us and we will fix it — you do not need an account, and you do not need to be the business owner.
